Hey its me, Heidi, not one for fancy bios, so I'll just tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Nebraska where we have a lot of cows, corn, and Husker football.... and that's about it!
New York is where I've called home for the last few years. Before that I was traveling the world, lucky to be working as a fashion model and getting to experience many different countries and cultures. I've been playing gigs, recording original music, and meeting lots of kick-ass songwriters along the road to pursuing singing. The sounds I enjoy include Kings of Leon, Sinead O'Connor, Evanescence, Joss Stone, Sarah Mclachlan, and Lifehouse. My vocal sound has kind of a smoky texture that blends silky pop with a rock edge.
I hope to continue creating, interpreting, and shaping the music, and share the experience.
The Way I Feel is my first recorded EP, and I'm so proud of the way it turned out. This collection was written and produced by Shane Koss and John Hogg, who are themselves in a rock-inspired band called Kassini. Of course I inspired them with my recent relationship status and the way I was feeling, pretty typical and easy to write about, but I love sad love songs. I didn’t have any experience writing music before this EP, and I'm still open to singing songs from great songwriters, adding my own passion and interpretation, so you could say I'm a bit of a blank canvas for silky pop writers. There's a touch of murkiness in my tone that adds a smoky rock flavor to the sound. I've been compared to Sarah Bareilles, Sinead O'Connor, and Amy Lee of Evanescence, all of whom are a great inspiration to me. I'm also particularly moved by the bare rock sound of Kings of Leon, Joss Stone's sassy rifs, and the pure heart-felt lyrics by bands that "take the heart and squeeze."
